Script execution via unescaped workbook style attributes
Published Dec 12, 2024 · Updated Dec 13, 2024
Cross-site scripting in Shuchkin SimpleXLSX 1.0.12 through 1.1.11 allows remote authenticated users to run JavaScript via crafted XLSX styles. SimpleXLSXEx reads workbook font, fill, border, and color attributes into HTML styling without escaping or restricting them before toHTMLEx renders the table. Exploitation requires an application to process attacker-controlled workbook content with toHTMLEx and a user to view the generated HTML, exposing browser-accessible data.
