Subscriber-level settings overwrite via unchecked save request
Published Jun 28, 2024 · Updated Aug 27, 2025
Missing authorization in zitscher Simple PhotoSwipe 0.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to overwrite plugin settings. The settings-save branch triggered by the photoswipe_save POST field processes attacker-controlled PhotoSwipe option values without checking the caller's WordPress capability. Subscriber-level access is sufficient, and the change persists even though the crafted request to options-general.php returns an HTTP 403 response.
