Note-viewer interruption via DOM method clobbering
Published Feb 7, 2025 · Updated Feb 10, 2025
DOM clobbering in the Joplin note viewer before 3.2.8 allows local users to interrupt note rendering via a crafted note. The HTML sanitizer preserves an element's name attribute, allowing values such as getElementById to replace same-named document methods. A user must open the crafted note; subsequent viewer scripts fail, and the displayed note remains stuck until the viewer is closed and reopened on another note.
