Unauthenticated detection bypass via ignored TCP urgent data
Published Jan 6, 2025 · Updated Jan 6, 2025
Detection bypass in Suricata before 7.0.8 allows remote attackers to evade traffic inspection using TCP urgent data. The stream reassembly engine ignores the URG flag and urgent pointer, treating out-of-band bytes inline even when endpoint applications remove them from their byte streams. An unauthenticated attacker able to send inspected TCP traffic can make Suricata and endpoint applications interpret different payloads, hiding malicious content from IDS or IPS rules.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
