Unauthorized access via expired session reuse
Published Dec 18, 2024 · Updated Dec 20, 2024
Insufficient session expiration in Kanboard before 1.2.43 allows remote attackers to regain access with an expired session identifier. The custom session handler's read method queries the sessions table by identifier without requiring expire_at to be later than the current time, while probabilistic garbage collection leaves stale rows available. Possession of a previously valid session identifier is required, and reuse preserves that session's access to project data and actions.
