Control Plane data exposure via misplaced ZFS datasets

Cleartext storage in Oxide software 5 and earlier allows physically proximate attackers to read or modify Control Plane data. Persistent CockroachDB, ClickHouse, debug, and DNS datasets were created outside the encrypted ZFS hierarchy, so they did not inherit encryption. Physical rack access and knowledge of the Control Plane databases are required; removed disks expose tokens, rack and VM metadata, and virtual-disk encryption keys.
