Remote code execution via unsafe route decryption
Published Jan 7, 2025 · Updated Jan 7, 2025
Unsafe deserialization in Invoice Ninja before 5.10.43 allows remote attackers with the APP_KEY to execute arbitrary commands. The unauthenticated route/{hash} handler passes attacker-supplied ciphertext to Laravel's decrypt function, which unserializes the plaintext by default and permits gadget-chain execution. Exploitation requires knowledge or recovery of the deployment's APP_KEY; repository-provided default keys make copied template configurations particularly exposed.
