Account takeover via stored SVG script
Published May 12, 2025 · Updated May 13, 2025
Stored XSS in ThingsBoard Community, Cloud, and Professional 3.8.1 Image Gallery allows remote authenticated users to steal tokens. The gallery accepts an SVG containing JavaScript and serves it from a publicLink URL, where a visiting browser executes the stored payload. A low-privileged account can plant the file, but a higher-privileged user must open the public link before the attacker can capture that user's authentication token and take over the account.
