Unauthenticated reCAPTCHA bypass via unchecked option writes
Published Jun 18, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Missing authorization in VowelWeb Ibtana 1.2.3.3 and earlier allows remote attackers to alter site reCAPTCHA keys through an AJAX request. The ibtana_visual_editor_register_ajax_json_endpont handler accepts request values and writes them to reCAPTCHA options without checking the caller's capabilities. No account or user interaction is required, and replacing the configured keys permits protections that rely on those options to be bypassed.
