Unauthenticated username enumeration via distinct login errors
Published Jan 2, 2026 · Updated Jan 2, 2026
Observable discrepancy in REDCap 14.3.13 allows remote attackers to enumerate usernames through unauthenticated login attempts. The login handler returns distinct error messages depending on whether the submitted username exists, exposing an account-validity oracle. No account or user interaction is required, and the disclosed usernames can support targeted password-guessing attacks.
