Authenticated command execution via unrestricted backup restoration
Published Apr 16, 2025 · Updated Apr 17, 2025
Unrestricted file upload in Wallos 2.38.2 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary server commands via backup restore. The restore-backup function extracts an uploaded ZIP archive into the server without restricting its contents, allowing a PHP web shell to be written into web-accessible storage. Any authenticated account can reach the function without administrator privileges; requesting the planted shell runs commands with the web server process's permissions.
