Subdomain takeover via unverified custom domain serving
Published Feb 5, 2025 · Updated Feb 5, 2025
Incorrect comparison in GitLab Pages allows remote authenticated users to take over custom subdomains on affected GitLab CE/EE instances. Pages serves content for a newly added custom domain during a seven-day verification window without first confirming control whenever a dangling domain points to the instance. Exploitation requires an account and victim interaction with the hijacked hostname, where attacker-controlled content can support phishing or cookie theft.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=0.0 <16.11.6
