Unauthenticated file disclosure via download path traversal
Published Feb 7, 2025 · Updated Feb 11, 2025
Path traversal in dhtmlxFileExplorer 8.4.6 allows remote attackers to read sensitive server files through the download endpoint. The backend/download endpoint accepts parent-directory segments in its path query parameter and resolves the requested file outside the configured file root. No authentication or user interaction is required, and disclosure is limited to files readable by the server process.
