Stored script execution via unescaped titles and SVGs
Published May 30, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024
Stored XSS in Alkacon Software OpenCms 16 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript through crafted site titles or SVG images. Site-management reports and delete confirmations insert site titles into HTML without XML escaping, while privileged image uploads accept active SVG content. An attacker needs page-management privileges for the title path or a gallery editor or VFS resource manager role for the SVG path, and the script runs in another user's browser.
