Administrator account takeover via unprotected cross-site requests
Published Jan 6, 2025 · Updated Jan 6, 2025
Cross-site request forgery in Grocy 4.3.0 and earlier allows remote attackers to reset an administrator password through a victim's browser. The user-update API accepts cookie-authenticated PUT requests without a CSRF token, and the session cookie lacks a SameSite restriction. Exploitation requires a signed-in administrator to visit attacker-controlled content; success grants control of the default administrator account.
