Authenticated SYSTEM code execution via path traversal
Published Jun 6, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024
Path traversal in UpLoadServlet in NETGEAR NMS300 1.7.0.34 x64 allows remote authenticated users to execute code as SYSTEM. The servlet uses a user-supplied path in file operations without restricting it to the intended directory. A valid NMS300 account is required; successful exploitation writes outside the upload directory and runs attacker-controlled code with Windows SYSTEM privileges.
