Stored cross-site scripting via journal entry template injection
Published Jan 10, 2025 · Updated Jul 5, 2026
Client-side template injection in MonicaHQ 4.1.1 allows remote authenticated users to execute script via a crafted journal entry. The journal entry editor stores template expressions from the entry text field, which the client template engine evaluates as JavaScript when rendered. An account and a victim viewing the saved entry are required, exposing data and actions available in that victim's browser session.
