CVE-2024-54682Network attack vector

Service interruption via unbounded Slack import expansion

Published Dec 16, 2024 · Updated Dec 16, 2024

Resource exhaustion in Mattermost allows remote authenticated users to interrupt the service through a crafted Slack import archive. The Slack import upload path accepts compressed archives without limiting uploaded or expanded file size, so a zip bomb consumes server resources during import. Exploitation requires team-administrator rights in the destination team and results in service interruption rather than data disclosure or modification.
