CVE-2024-5463Network attack vector

Unauthenticated login-service restart via unchecked buffer copy

Published Jun 4, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2025

Classic buffer overflow in the login component of Synology Camera Firmware before 1.1.1-0383 allows remote attackers to restart the service. The login component copies attacker-controlled input into a buffer without checking its size, but Synology has not disclosed the specific field or code path. No authentication or user interaction is required; exploitation can write specific non-sensitive files and briefly interrupt login availability because the service restarts automatically.
