CVE-2024-54537

Sandbox escape via missing entitlement checks

Published Jan 27, 2025 · Updated May 21, 2026

Sandbox escape in Apple macOS allows local users to read and write files outside a QuickTime Player app's sandbox. QuickTime Player fails to enforce required entitlement checks before granting a sandboxed app filesystem access beyond its container. Exploitation requires a locally running app and user interaction; access is bounded to reading and modifying files that the sandbox should deny.
