CVE-2024-54507Public exploit

Kernel-memory disclosure via sysctl integer type confusion

Published Jan 27, 2025 · Updated Jun 3, 2026

Kernel type confusion in Apple iOS and iPadOS before 18.2 and macOS before 15.2 allows local users to read kernel memory. The sysctl_udp_log_port handler reads a two-byte uint16_t kernel variable through a four-byte int pointer and copies the resulting overread to userspace. Any local user can query net.inet.udp.log.remote_port_excluded to disclose the two adjacent kernel-memory bytes selected by the build layout.
