Unauthenticated code execution via unrestricted PHP upload
Published Jul 13, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024
Unrestricted file upload in Community Events Project Bug Library before 2.1.1 allows remote attackers to execute PHP code. The add_bug_field function stores attachments from the public bug-report form without validating their file types, permitting PHP files in the web-accessible upload directory. Exploitation requires attachments to be enabled and the [bug-library] shortcode exposed; requesting the stored PHP file executes its commands.
