Kernel compromise via stale UFS BSG queue
Published Feb 27, 2025 · Updated Sep 8, 2026
Use-after-free in the UFS BSG teardown path in Linux 4.20 and later allows local users to compromise the kernel during driver removal. ufs_bsg_remove() removes the BSG queue but leaves hba->bsg_queue pointing to freed memory, so later teardown or re-entry dereferences reclaimed queue state. Reachability requires local access to a UFS host and the ability to drive device or driver teardown; exploitation enables kernel-memory disclosure, corruption, code execution, or a panic.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
