CVE-2024-5441Known exploitationNetwork attack vector

Remote code execution via unchecked featured-image upload

Published Jul 9, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026

Arbitrary file upload in Webnus Modern Events Calendar 7.11.0 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute PHP code. The MEC_main::set_featured_image function copies bytes fetched from an attacker-controlled URL into the public uploads directory using its basename, without checking the file type or extension. Subscriber access is sufficient by default; sites that enable guest event submissions expose the same server-code execution path without authentication.
