Subscriber-to-Administrator escalation via arbitrary option update
Published Dec 16, 2024 · Updated Apr 28, 2026
Missing authorization in Blokhaus Minterpress 1.0.5 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to update arbitrary WordPress options. The affected option-update function accepts attacker-controlled option names and values without a capability check; public sources do not identify the function by name. Subscriber-level access is sufficient to enable registration, set the default role to Administrator, and create an administrative account.
