Contributor-level script execution via unrestricted shortcode attributes
Published Dec 13, 2024 · Updated May 12, 2026
DOM-based XSS in Quran Phrases About Most People Shortcodes 1.4 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to run script in a visitor's browser. The shortcode renderer accepts arbitrary attributes and passes them into generated markup instead of restricting names to the documented size, color, and tag attributes. Contributor-level access is required to supply a crafted shortcode, and exploitation also requires another user to render the resulting page.
