Process crash via invalid Juniper header
Published Feb 10, 2026 · Updated Feb 10, 2026
Denial of service in Tcpreplay 4.5.1 allows local users to crash tcprewrite by processing a crafted packet-capture file. An invalid Juniper header reaches dlt_jnpr_ether_proto without a sufficient-length check, producing a corrupted context pointer that tcpedit_dlt_getplugin dereferences. Execution requires a user to run tcprewrite on the file; the demonstrated consequence is a read-access segmentation fault that aborts the process.
