CVE-2024-54138Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Cross-site scripting via encoded Markdown autolinks

Published Dec 6, 2024 · Updated Dec 10, 2024

Cross-site scripting in NuGet Gallery before 2024.12.06 allows remote attackers to execute script through encoded Markdown autolinks. The Markdown renderer leaves percent-encoded javascript autolink targets unsanitized, so a browser decodes and executes the target when clicked. A viewer must click the rendered link, after which script runs in the gallery origin and can read or modify data available to that session.
