CVE-2024-54130Network attack vector

Unauthenticated node crash via premature EID restoration

Published Dec 5, 2024 · Updated Dec 5, 2024

NULL pointer dereference in NASA JPL ION-DTN BPv7 4.1.3 allows remote attackers to crash a node with a dtn:none destination bundle. In forwardBundle, restoreEidString runs before the nullEndpoint check, attempting to restore station EID state for a null destination. Unauthenticated network delivery is sufficient; the crash leaves the node unresponsive to subsequent incoming bundles.
