Stored XSS via insufficient SVG sanitization
Published Nov 29, 2024 · Updated Nov 29, 2024
Stored XSS in Backdrop CMS before 1.28.4 and 1.29.0 through 1.29.1 allows remote attackers to execute script via SVG uploads. The SVG embedding path insufficiently sanitizes an uploaded SVG document before including it in formatted content, leaving active markup in the rendered page. Exploitation requires a text format that permits the SVG tag, a role allowed to use that format and upload images, and a user who renders the crafted content.
