Local privilege escalation via unquoted service path
Published Jul 15, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024
Unquoted service path handling in ABB Mint Workbench 5866 allows local users to gain elevated privileges through executable placement. The Mint HTTP Server ImagePath omits quotation marks around a path containing spaces, causing Windows service startup to search ambiguous executable locations. Exploitation requires prior local access and write access to a searched path, after which attacker-controlled code runs with the service's privileges.
