Authenticated code execution via unsafe remoting deserialization
Published Nov 24, 2024 · Updated Nov 26, 2024
Unsafe deserialization in Veritas Enterprise Vault before 15.2 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary code. Server services accept crafted untrusted data on dynamic .NET Remoting TCP endpoints and deserialize it as a remoting command. Exploitation requires a valid same-forest domain account, Remote Desktop Users membership on a network VM, and knowledge and reachability of the target process IDs, ports, and object URIs.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=14.0 <=14.5.1
- Affected versionversion=15.0 <=15.1
