CVE-2024-53909

Authenticated code execution via MonitoringMiddleTier deserialization

Published Nov 24, 2024 · Updated Nov 26, 2024

Deserialization in Veritas Enterprise Vault 15.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute code through .NET Remoting. The MonitoringMiddleTier service on TCP port 8071 accepts user-supplied serialized data without proper validation and deserializes it. Exploitation requires a domain user with RDP access to a network VM and reaches code execution in the service-account context.
