CVE-2024-53859

Token disclosure via codespace host misclassification

Published Nov 27, 2024 · Updated Dec 3, 2024

Information disclosure in GitHub go-gh before 2.11.1 allows attackers to expose a GitHub token through an unintended host in a codespace. auth.TokenForHost treats every non-GitHub host as enterprise and, when CODESPACES is true, returns GITHUB_TOKEN after enterprise-token variables are empty. A consuming extension must request an attacker-influenced non-GitHub host while a codespace provides GITHUB_TOKEN; the token can then be sent to that host.
