Account takeover via IDOR-assisted stored XSS
Published Dec 2, 2024 · Updated Dec 2, 2024
Stored XSS in LibrePhotos before commit 32237 allows remote authenticated users to take over accounts through a crafted HTML upload. In api/views/upload.py, upload handlers trust the POST user identifier instead of binding ownership to the JWT subject, while media responses serve detected file content types inline. A valid account and an administrator opening the generated media link are required; attacker-supplied HTML then executes in the administrator's session context.
