Unauthorized file access via unchecked path parameters
Published Jan 31, 2025 · Updated Mar 20, 2025
Path traversal in OpenPanel File Manager 0.2.1 through 0.3.4 allows remote attackers to read or copy files outside assigned directories. The compress, copy, download, and view endpoints accept pathParam or path_param values that resolve outside /home/username/ and operate on files in the UI container. Published requests carry an OpenPanel session cookie, although CISA scores the flaw as requiring no privileges; exposed files can include container configuration and account data.
