Authenticated PHP code execution via unrestricted layout inclusion
Published May 31, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Local file inclusion in Responsive Owl Carousel for Elementor 1.2.0 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute PHP code. In includes/widgets/owl-carousel.php, the carousel renderer uses the attacker-controlled layout setting to select a PHP file for inclusion without restricting it to an approved template path. Contributor-level access is required, and code execution additionally depends on an includable PHP file already present or uploadable on the server; inclusion is limited to PHP files.
