CVE-2024-53382Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Cross-site scripting via clobbered currentScript lookup

Published Mar 3, 2025 · Updated Mar 3, 2025

DOM clobbering in PrismJS Prism 1.29.0 and earlier allows attackers to execute arbitrary scripts in browsers via injected HTML. Prism.util.currentScript accepts a clobbered document.currentScript element, and the autoloader derives its language-component base URL from that element's src value. Exploitation requires a page that embeds the autoloader, accepts untrusted scriptless HTML, and loads another language component, causing script retrieval from an attacker-controlled origin.
