Code execution or crash via unchecked query copy
Published Nov 21, 2024 · Updated Nov 26, 2024
Buffer overflow in downloadFlile.cgi in TOTOLINK A810R 4.1.2cu.5182_B20201026 allows local users to execute code or crash the router. The CGI copies the complete QUERY_STRING into the v24 stack buffer with sprintf without checking its length. The published proof of concept requires a valid session cookie and sends an 8,000-byte HTTP query, exposing authenticated management sessions to code execution or service interruption.
