Remote service crash via null request dereference
Published Dec 18, 2024 · Updated Dec 18, 2024
Denial of service in affected Envoy releases allows remote attackers to crash the proxy through crafted HTTP/1 traffic. ServerConnectionImpl::sendProtocolError calls onMessageBeginImpl for a missing active_request_, then dereferences it after the reset path returns success. Exploitation requires the http1_server_abort_dispatch load-shed point and a stream reset during dispatch; process termination interrupts proxy service.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
