CVE-2024-53234

Service interruption via malformed EROFS cluster metadata

Published Dec 27, 2024 · Updated May 23, 2026

Improper EROFS compressed-cluster handling in Linux allows local users to interrupt service through FIEMAP on a crafted image. The EROFS map routine in fs/erofs/zmap.c exits when a NONHEAD logical cluster has delta[1] equal to zero, leaving an inadequate decompressed length for iomap_fiemap. Exploitation requires local access to such a crafted or legacy EROFS filesystem and affects availability without reported data disclosure or modification.
