Kernel crash via Bluetooth command use-after-free
Published Dec 27, 2024 · Updated Aug 5, 2026
Use-after-free in affected Linux kernel Bluetooth MGMT code allows local users to crash the kernel through a control-command race. The set_powered_sync worker dereferences a pending command after concurrent HCIDEVDOWN handling frees it through settings_rsp. Triggering the race requires CAP_NET_ADMIN and can corrupt kernel slab memory or panic the system without any over-the-air Bluetooth traffic.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
