Local system interruption via unchecked plane-state dereference
Published Dec 27, 2024 · Updated May 11, 2026
Null pointer dereference in the AMD display driver in Linux 6.5 and later affected branches allows local users to interrupt the system. In hwss_setup_dpp(), code dereferences pipe_ctx->plane_state without first checking whether the pointer is null. Low-privileged local access and an AMD display pipeline with a null plane state are required; the resulting kernel oops can interrupt the host.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
