CVE-2024-53156

Kernel memory corruption via unchecked endpoint index

Published Dec 24, 2024 · Updated May 11, 2026

Out-of-bounds array access in the Linux ath9k_htc driver allows local users to trigger a kernel memory-safety violation. htc_connect_service() accepted conn_rsp_epid without confirming that it fit the 22-entry endpoint array, and later HTC command handling indexed that array with the unchecked value. Reachability requires the ath9k_htc path for supported USB wireless hardware; public evidence demonstrates a sanitizer-detected kernel fault but no specific exploit outcome.
