Local denial of service via leaked socket buffers
Published Dec 2, 2024 · Updated May 11, 2026
Memory leak in Linux kernel 6.7 through 6.11.9 allows local users to exhaust memory through virtio/vsock MSG_ZEROCOPY sends. The virtio_transport_send_pkt_info function returns after virtio_transport_init_zcopy_skb fails without freeing the allocated socket buffer. Repeated failing zero-copy sends from a local account with access to a virtio VSOCK socket can consume kernel memory and interrupt service.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
