Kernel service interruption via uninitialized OCFS2 attributes
Published Nov 25, 2024 · Updated May 12, 2026
Use of uninitialized values in Linux OCFS2 allows local users to interrupt kernel service through filesystem attribute changes. The ocfs2_setattr() tracepoint passes unset ia_mode, ia_uid, or ia_gid fields to from_kuid() and from_kgid() when the corresponding ATTR flags are absent. Exploitation requires local low-privileged access, an OCFS2 filesystem, and execution of the affected attribute-change trace path; no confidentiality or integrity impact is reported.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
