CVE-2024-5298Network attack vector

Root code execution via exposed dangerous method

Published May 23, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024

Remote code execution in D-Link D-View 8 2.0.1.89 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary code through a dangerous method. The queryDeviceCustomMonitorResult method is remotely exposed, but D-Link and ZDI have not disclosed the unsafe operation it performs on request data. Authentication normally gates the method, but the published authentication bypass makes root-context code execution reachable over the network.
