Local code execution via osqueryd parameter injection
Published May 1, 2025 · Updated May 1, 2025
Parameter injection in Elastic Agent 7.0.0 through 7.17.24 and 8.0.0 through 8.15.3 allows local users to execute arbitrary code. Elastic identifies the wrong operation as parameter injection while constructing the osqueryd subprocess, but does not disclose the accepted parameter names or parsing path. Exploitation requires local access and high privileges sufficient to modify osqueryd configurations, after which injected parameters alter code execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=7.0.0 <=7.17.24
