Authenticated server crash via crafted Observability request
Published Apr 8, 2025 · Updated Apr 8, 2025
Uncontrolled resource consumption in Kibana 7.17.0 through 7.17.22 and 8.0.0 through 8.15.0 allows remote authenticated users to crash the server. An undisclosed Observability API operation consumes uncontrolled resources when it processes a specially crafted request, terminating the Kibana server. Reachability requires an authenticated account with Observability read permissions; the documented consequence is a service crash without data exposure or modification.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
