Authenticated service crash via unbounded summary allocation

Resource exhaustion in Elastic Kibana 7.17.0 through 7.17.22 and 8.0.0 through 8.14.1 allows remote authenticated users to crash the service. The /api/log_entries/summary handler processes a specially crafted request without limiting or throttling resource allocation, exhausting the server. Read access to Observability-Logs is required, and successful exploitation interrupts Kibana availability by terminating its process.
